Take your nephew to Pine Coulee Reservoir, he'll have more fun and there are regulars on here that can tell you where and how. And I think there was a thread on winterkill.

The smaller pond at Carburn was once a regularly stocked trout pond, but someone introduced pike into it a few years back, and it is no longer stocked, and not really worth fishing. The larger (north) pond is chock full of small to larger pike (pulled a 32" one out of there a couple of years back) and perch, but that is it.
