Default Calling lake question

I have 9 foot zodiaz style inflateable with a 30lbs trolling motor and I was wondering how dangerous this lake would be. I am not planning to the middle by any means, I would be staying around the weed marks and was wondering if it's doable. I see nothing but large pike and walleye coming out of this lake and I am anxious to give it a try. Do you see canoes and smaller sized boats on the lake? Thanks for the help!

Your boat will be fine as long as the wind does not come up, you will be launching at Provincial park I assume, if wind comes from the NorthWest you are out of luck, I am sure it can handle a bit of wind. But from there you do not have to go far, just look for the boats and you will probably find the fish, and if the wind does come up you are only a matters of a minute or so back to shore, will be out there tonight, will keep an eye out for you.

Will you be heading out there tomorrow? I am going to check the weather reports and if it's favorable I will take the drive up. It can handle a bit of wind for sure, but I don't want to push my luck, ha ha

Default Your...

Zodiac will be fine in ANY water, it's a matter of how you get back to the shore.... or at least, .... the right shore !

I got stuck once on Lower Arrow Lake with a buddy in a vicious summer storm. The rollers were so big (right around 4'..) we could actually look over the side and see the boat 'riding the crest' of each wave and then the boat would gently slide down and into the next. There were Docks and moorings the size of fifth wheel trailers floating in the water during our freaky ride back to the breakers and boat launch....

We were in a 10' Zodiac with a 20hp Yamaha. Well made Rubber Dinghy's,..Safest boats in the water,.... period.

Cheers,

/FC....

Default Sucker Creek

Go to the townsite. Drive through on Calling Lake Drive. Go past moosehorn market. Drive through the Indian Reserve. After the Indian reserve, turn left at Ben Auger Road. you will see the new MD Playground. Fish straight out in front. IF it blows up, you are being blown back into the playground. The fish are anywhere from 6 ft to 30 ft deep right now, and this is about 500 yards from the playground. LOCK up your vehicle, remove any valuables from view. I will be out in the Mistress on Sunday.
