It took me 6 full months of working on it hard every nightshift at work (5 modules or so per shift). Then you have to go into Nait to write each of the 6 exams inbetween each Part (A1,A2,A Final,B1,B2,B Final). I didn't take it home once just did it all on nights.

Depends if you have the time already to write Part B. If thats the case, after you get your Nait certificate, yes spend a full day and write both A and B and be done. In my case I wrote A, did my 6 months, then wrote B.

It also can't hurt with the ladies. Instead of "hi I work as a salesman at future shop" I get to say "I'm a power engineer. Yes that's right I engineer power".
Absolutely, in fact it's so bad you'll never know if they truly love you, or if it's your steam ticket that rocks their world. Most of us steamers are ok with that though.

P.S. Don't stop at your 4th, get your 3rd, and don't stop till you've got your 2nd, and then if you want to stop you can.

Or if you finish a 4th class program at an approved school that includes fire time you get your 4th.

I am wondering about taking 3rd right after 4th as well and maybe getting a summer job at a plant somewhere. My thing is that I am very much a hands on learner and where I have been accepted to school is all theory until the end of the course where you do 1 hands on practicum for 160 hrs. Anyone have advise on whether I should take the 3rd at school or work and do the 3rd while working if I get a job with my 4th?

Do I need to have the steam time completed first before taking Part B of 4th Class?

Yeah, but there hasn't been a thread on power engineering on here forever. Like a week at least.
