An awful lot of big game was killed with the .30-06 including the big bears before everyone became affluent enough to own a rifle for every species of game they might hunt.

It’s a 20” rifled barrel.
One would figure the slug would dump a mid sized black bear with authority, but in this specific instance it wasn’t that way....... defiantly gives a guy a bit to ponder about.
