Default North Saskatchewan river

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, I am looking for some info. I plan on doing some fishing trips around Rocky Mtn House and west towards Nordegg to fish the NSR this summer. Wandering how the fishing is out that way and hoping it is some good trout fishing. Any opinions/knowledge about the area would be great.

I will be fishing out of my jet boat, can you get to ram falls by boat, don't know much about the ram river. Since I got the boat I don't hike to to many spots anymore. Can hit alot of holes in a day by boat.

not unless your boat can climb falls. there is about two or three sets of falls between the NSR and the falls on the Ram river he is talking about.

never fished it, but someone did tell me that downstream of the FTR bridge there is a set of cliffs that is suppose to be a pretty good fishing spot. have no idea exactly where downstream it is, just suppose to be by some cliffs.

also heard that where a lot of the side streams enter the NSR are suppose to be pretty decent also.

That is why I will probably stick to the NSR so I can get out in the boat with the family. I have heard there is a lot of good fishing holes around Saunders west of Rocky. Any comments and opinions on that area? Another nice thing about the jet boat is that if the fishing is really slow, any day out in the boat is ALWAYS a blast...

I am from rocky and the NSR is amazing fishing for brown trout around rocky especially where the clearwater joins up. Its hard to walk and fish so u have to know landowners or oil lease roads to reach some good holes. very big pike and walleye downstream of rocky too

The nice thing about a jet boat is you don't have to worry about crossing someone's land to get to the river. Also it is easy to get away from the crowded spots which are easily accessible by roads or paths. All I really have to worry about is a place to launch the boat. Once I do that I go where the river takes me.

I put my jet boat in in on the Forestry Trunk Road which I access by driving west past Nordegg a few miles and turn left onto the trunk road. Follow it down to the river. Depending on conditions of the river you can launch from either side. Some excellent fishing both ways. Browns, cutts, bulls, and of course the fresh water bonefish. Did the trip last July, weather was perfect and fish were biting; there is a campground.

Thanks for the info. I am planning on a trip out that way this summer with the boat and camper. Is it a provincial park or can you random camp by the river. I would like to be able to launch the boat and if possible camp by the water and not have to load the boat up every night just tie it off at camp. Do any spots like this exist out there?

There is random camping. I left my boat in the water for three days. Cross the bridge and immediately turn right. Nice place to camp and you can secure your boat there. PM me if you want to see pics.
