I would love to see it. All about learning new things. 27 minutes is light speed single handedly.

BTW, not picking on you I just have not seen anyone do that work that fast.

When we timed my dad and he get gutted a full deer in 3 minutes....I figured that was fast.

And it's just as easy to do it with the guts in and IMO much easier with a large animal.

It was just a race on the clock. Purposely doing it fast. Now if i could learn how to make the steak and roast cuts prettier... id be happy.

And those funky knots for roasts. Ain't nobody got time! Lol

I hate havalons ....well I don't mind them for certain jobs I have used them for capeing and breasting birds but found they to dull way to quick when doing a serious job.

I'll let you try one of my D2 steel knives that I have sharpened to shaving sharp then you will appreciate a real knife!!!!

Tractors work really good as well, you can drive over any smaller trees and pick up with bucket and good to go

I agree with you, i did a whole cow elk with on blade using the torch and it took two blades on a rutting bull only because i put on a fresh blade to came him out

I'm just not sure how removing the guts would have been helpful.

I am old fashioned....we age our large game animals 2-3 weeks. I like opening the cooler and seeing this.

Or even a couple more critters

How are you going to do that with a Moose that is 5 miles from the truck?

If I can all the bone stays in the quarters. That way they can hang.

That's mighty big of you, ABB! Too bad I didn't get a tag for this year...

But seriously, if I do tag out in 936 the future (next year?) it would sure be nice to have someone like you to show a gutless newbie the ropes. I'd love to learn how to do that.

Default Wasted meat

When you see how dirty and full of leaves, pine needles, grass and bullet holes some animals come into butcher shops, there are people who should be charged with wasting meat. Sorry for the derail

What do you do with the guts? Fertilizer?

Sure made it look quick and easy although if I was that close to the house I'd probably get it home, hanging and utilize every bit possible.
Good video none the less.

I learned that over thirty years ago when I started guiding in the NWT. Sure it wasn't a new thing then and works like a hot damn. Works really good when the hunter only wants a European mount, otherwise a bit of caping first. Just be careful with the edible meat thing. In the NWT all meat had to be taken and that meant ALL, even the thin strips between the ribs that are left in the video.

Default what about aging?

I'm going to try it this year on my WT.

How do the 'gutless' guys hang & age the meat?

I have tried the gutless meathod and don't care for it. the only time I will do the gutless method is if somehow the animal accidentally gets hit in the guts. the gutless method is finicky and if my dad is around he has the guts out in minutes. plus it doesn't feel right not having blood half way up your arms! we also take the heart and liver out and this requires pulling the guts out. also the tender loins are way easier to get when the guts are out. I don't see any advantage to the gutless method for speed or neatness, unless the animal is hit in the guts.

The knife used in the video is a danged Leatherman!
I know I haave used my multi plier at one time and I think leeper has used a leatherman as well.
They work, but i prefer "nice" knives", same as when I hunt I like guns that I like as fine rifles, not just tools with no character to them.

On a big animal (elk or moose) I disagree there is a big time saver in not gutting the animal and to take out the heart and liver it is quite simple with a saw just cut a square out from the ribs and reach in.
I like the gutless method especially when I am back in the bush (which is almost always)

For me it's all about the steel I have two d2 steel knives one at 59 Rockwell and one at 61 they both hold an edge amazingly. I can cut through fur and hide like nothing and on a bull elk or moose they are usually rather dirty.
I usually can go a whole season without sharpening my knives, one year my 59 RW d2 skinned and quartered 6 moose 2 elk and a deer...... I don't need replacement blades and can actually use the knife in an aggressive matter!!

How much time do you save by not gutting? 10-15 mins?
