Sounds like they came prepared.

Might be someone that you know or that has visited recently.

Possibly,

Or someone has been watching it for a while.

The motor was on the boat, which was on my trailer, which was attached to my jeep. It was stolen under a street lamp or under broad daylight by a high traffic area.

Bummer....jerks
Start checking the ads.
I'd go for a drive around the neighbourhood to... ya never know.

Good luck.

Did you report to the police? Most shops will not sell parts or work on outboards unless a serial number is given. Was implimented years ago to help catch stollen stuff, people.

I did report it yesterday.

I've called a few pawn shops and keep checking kijiji.

I doubt I'll find it, but one never knows.

It's too bad I've owned the boat for about a month now.

Check the neighborhood. We have one AO member who went on one of those balloon rides over his house, and saw his stolen quads from a year before eight doors down in some guy's back yard.

Buying a stolen motor is sort of risky.

Thank you for the idea.

I'll peek over a few fences, etc later tonight or tomorrow.

I don't think the motor will be recovered, however its worth a shot. I did call a few pawn shops today. Each one I called informed me they check all incoming goods with the police.

Exactly.
They don't get noticed in their own neighbourhood... see your stuff and can learn your schedule.

A quick grab and dash and they are home before the commercials are over so they don't miss any of their favorite show.
I'd bet that most stuff is nicked by someone living within a couple blocks of ya.

We always think it is some stranger or outsider but too often it turns out to be the guy down the road.

I have peeked over the fence in a few yards. However nothing has shown up. Many of the yards have sheds and garages.

I keep watching kijiji and have a few lines in the water.

Last night I picked up a loaner evenrude 9.9 to get me through the rest of the season untill I get the new motor in oct. Interesting part is it hasn't run in 5+ years. (owner didn't have the time nor interest anymore)

I pulled the carb, cleaned it, replaced old fuel lines, did a quick tune up. I'm hoping to take her for a shake down Sunday night and do some fishing.
