SE calgary (highfield) is getting slammed for 20 minutes. Black as snot, winds are screaming and now the rain has come.

Fair bit of lightening. (sitting next to an electrical substation)

I was waiting our fireplace inspection tomorrow so I didn't have the fasteners in our 3' x 51/2' galv chimney cap in case they wanted to peer down the chase. The wind just picked the entire cap up and deposited it in my driveway along with the top 3' chimney section and rain cap; now I'm waking for the wind & rain to subside enough that I can put it back up. I don't want too much rain getting down my roof . Until the wind and lightning subsides, I'm not keen on venturing up to my roof with an 18 square foot mettalic sail.

The galv cap is repairable with a hammer, using some lumber blocks as a brake, but now I need a new piece of stainless steel a-vent and rain cap due to it taking a good smash upon landing.

Glad I was here for it; normally I'd be at work but I'm pulling a night shift tonight.

I just saw lighting hit the ground 5 times just south of downtown Calgary. Amazingly scary. The ground just glowed white and yellow for a few seconds.

Wind shear ahead of the storm front is intense. Batten down the hatches!

Absolutely crazy. I was at the hangar in Calgary when that storm hit, I can believe it snapped the sign! WOW
