Smile Hunting in the Fort McMurray area

Hello all
I'm new to the hunting scene in the Fort McMurray area and now that there's been a big fire, where do you hunt up here?
Is there grouse hunting in the region?
I don't have a quad or sled - just 2 feet and a heartbeat so it's walking for now.
I have guns to handle pretty well any kind of game - just trying to figure out what is up here.

Howdy!
I hunted the same places last fall that I have since the 70's, the fire didn't affect the animals as much as some people think.
I hunt on foot as well.

How's the grouse hunting up here? Probably best south of town or is there anything north?

I've had my best luck for deer south of town down 63 or 881. There are pockets of them north of town but not a lot.

Deer hunting up this way is not the best but if you put the time in to learn the area there are a few around. Best to get out and about this time of year and do a little predator hunting. With the ground being frozen it is easy to get around. You'll see where the deer are just by looking out for some tracks/sign.

I've never predator hunted before. What do you do with the coyote/wolf once you've sent it to meet it's maker? Is there a ready market for the pelt?

as stated above, if your looking for deer head south down 63 or 881 and do some scouting prior to the season, more time an effort you put in better your odds will be, ive done really well for grouse both north and south of town this year. lots of bears as well. spring bear is coming up but in the meantime im predator hunting as well. lots of coyotes . good luck

Thanks. I'm looking forward hunting around here and my dogs would love to flush some grouse.
