Nosler rifles again
So I asked on FB who made the action and got a reply from them.
Nosler Hi Daryl! We design the action in-house to our specifications, however the particular info you're looking for is kept proprietary.
Not a whole lot more info I know but it is at least from them and not someone else.

If I was selling rifles for the price of the Nosler, I wouldn't be anxious to tell people that I was using a slightly modified Howa action.

There is your answer, nowhere do they say they they manufacture the action, if they did they would be the first to say so. A couple of in house design modifications of an existing action and everything else is a secret. All I know is if you compare a nosler ,a Howa and a weatherby vanguard, take them apart and do some measuring on the main components of these three actions you will see that outside of a few cosmetic "design modifications" on superficial things like bolt shrouds, bolt handles, trigger guard bottom metal and recontouring the outside of the action, it is easy to tell that they all start out as the same action. It's like the difference between a Chevrolet and a GMC truck.

Ya, they design a picture of a long action and place an order to Howa. I know a guy who has/had? one, he said he would never buy one. When he would work the bolt too hard it would come right out the back of the rifle, happened to him twice on an African Safari. Not impressed at all.

Agreed. Just remembered the other thread that buddy was backing them up on and had a FB thing pop up on my page so I decided to ask them.
It was about what I was suspecting.

And for their asking price, you can actually build a nice custom. One that you know where all of it's parts came from.

I have handled a couple of the Nosler rifles, a guy even let me fire a few rounds from his 300wsm. For some reason I found the stock not quite right for me. For that kinda cash I want something that fits and points naturally on top of all the function and accuracy standards.
I have to ask, what is the difference between a trued up rem 700 or clone (stiller, defiance, etc, etc, etc...) and a trued up Howa? That is if the Nosler is actually held to tight tollerances. I have never seen one apart to do any measuring, or heard of anyone checking one. But still, you would be paying the same cash for the trued remington or clone on your custom rifle, and likely finding that it shoots much the same.

One thing you will find is Nosler makes VERY LITTLE of any of their own stuff. Guns from Howa, brass is made by Norma in Europe etc etc. Nosler is basically just one very large branding operation with next to no in-house production capacity.

And companies like Winchester,Browning, and Weatherby are pretty much the same, in that they all contract out, most of their manufacturing.

Completely agree Elk. There are still quite a few that do own their production facilities like Sako/Tikka, Remington, Savage, Heym, Sauer, Baser, CZ, and Zastava to name just a few, but their are also an a growing number of Brands that just source from one place or another. You are completely right that the likes of Browning, Nosler and Parker Hale started this 40 years ago, and since then Winchester, Weatherby and a whole host of others have followed the outsourcing path.

Weatherby was contracting out the manufacturing of firearms as early as 1957, and Browning has been outsourcing since long before then.

Remington has outsourced a few models over the years. IIRC they moved the manufacturing of a few shotgun models to Russia about 10 years ago. I also doubt that they make much of the R15 and R25 in house, same with the 1911 pistol. They may be from stablemates in the "Freedom Group" of companies, but I would bet a significant number of parts are outsourced beyond that.
