Default Double brow tine white-tail

I was fortunate enough to close my tag on this old buck yesterday. I saw this buck opening weekend in the area I hunt. I spotted him from a long distance and knew he was a good one. I could see width in the spotting scope. He was always a long ways off making it difficult due to the tough terrain in getting closer. I returned to the area this week and found the buck in the same area early in the morning. He was approx a mile and a half away. I saw him head down in full rut mode working his way towards me. I closed the distance crossing the valley hoping to get closer. I set myself up in an area with good visual. The deer activity was all around me with does, smaller bucks and mule deer passing by continuously. The white-tails decided to move on when a coyote showed up which made them nervous. After waiting another half hour with no deer activity, I was making plans to move on out of the area. The buck appeared very quickly running out of a patch of bush headed straight towards me. I wasn’t prepared . . . Had to pick up my rifle from the ground and quickly adjust the scope power to 5x. At that point the buck was 60 yards on full out run. I grunted loudly three times to get him to stop . He stopped and I sent a 7 mm round. He arched up and ran into the next patch of bush where I found him 20 yards in. Packing a deer out in quarters is challenging but rewarding at the same time. The remoteness of the country makes it a challenge in every way. Hunting rutting white-tail is a definite thrill. Looking forward to 2021.

That’s a dandy! Congrats. Still looking for one worthy of my lime green sticker. I saw a couple but no dice on the stalks. Such a cool ole warrior

Absolute stud of a deer. Best I've seen in a while. Well done.
