The names are in the news article. As well as the charges.

Good to see the hefty fines. Hopefully will deter other “idiots” from doing stupid things.

Exactly. These are obviously idiots that should not even be able to own a nerf gun, and if someone threatened someone with an axe in an urban centre they would likely have ERT climbing up their derrière's.

Why no jail time?

Quote:
Excerpt:

“Threatened witness with axe

Officers said the men assaulted the witness when they saw him taking the photos and tried to force him to give up his cellphone password by threatening him with an axe.

"The other campers intervened
and convinced the suspects to return his cellphone and let the witness go," said the statement. "Other campers from nearby camps also witnessed the assault."

Do street muggers get conditional sentences?

Quote:
What is a conditional sentence?

A conditional sentence is a jail sentence that you serve in the community, instead of in jail. Judges will use a conditional sentence only if they are satisfied that you won’t be a danger to the community and you don’t have a history of failing to obey court orders. A judge can’t give you a conditional sentence if the sentence is longer than 2 years, if the law sets a minimum jail term, or if the Criminal Code lists the crime as a violent offense. A conditional sentence usually has strict conditions, including a curfew. If you disobey the conditions, a judge can send you to jail for the rest of the time left on your sentence.

Cases like this they need to let legitimate hunters have a say in sentencing. I suspect the public would be astounded at the sentences. We don't need people like this being called hunters.

Isn’t there like a two or three year jail term for muggers? Or do they just pay fines?
Those charges are not handled by fish cops....RCMP will be involved on that.

I edited my post and removed all my comments because I’d forgotten that they received a conditional sentence.
