After running the daughter back to our house, so she can head back to the city.
I made a quick turn around with plumbing tools in hand to help out my landowner buddy change a kitchen faucet(he just had cataract surgery).
As I was just getting done, word came from the Pit Boss that he’s off work early and heading to the blind at the lease.

Now we wait.........

2 does and a fawn with 10 mins left in the day, the Pit Boss saw a single doe.

Back to work for a week, then back at it.

It’s now day 3.
The phone stayed quiet last night, so I’m glad my being on call is done.
Now for some serious vacationing.......

2” of white stuff last night, I just need somebody to make some tracks in it.

That was 3 hours ago!! Some of us have better things to do than keep refreshing the screen to see if you got your stupid deer.. ok maybe I don't, but I'm sure some people do. Please end the suspense.

Must be a decent buck for you to trip the hammer on one so early in your season!

Why would anyone assume it a deer? There are plenty of critters on the game farm he hunts.

I went and set out two ground blinds in alternate spots, as we seem to have had increased hunters on weekends and the like.

After settling them up, complete with heater, extra propane, lawn chair, bum pad, carpet for the ground, and a shooting stick, I’m now back in my perch.

Waiting........

The thread that keeps on giving. I’ll admit, when I saw the blood pic I assumed deer as well.

I’ve had 5 hunts out of my stands ruined by coyotes blowing out the field or stands this year. None of them get a pass anymore. Had 6 chasing 14 elk around the field in bow season. 5 dogs are down so far.

The wind came up around 3 this afternoon, and howled like a gale, and whodathunkit, no deer moving.

Dear diary
Today I found out that I have an addiction.
I keep on checking what Dick is doing.
Multiple times a day.
I might have to see a shrink.

Just kidding
Great thread
Keep it coming!

I saw four does but no moose when the winds were up. Pretty fricken cold wind too! Today was a day I wished for an apartment style stand like you have....
Do you run a genset to brew fresh coffee all day?

Nope, just a Thermos brand vacuum bottle.
