Been up for hours as well.
Then wanting a nap all day.
Seems to be getting worse with age.

I also have insomnia, one of the reasons I gave up working as a LEO. Never fell asleep on duty but it got rough on the body not sleeping for a few days straight. Even sleep medication didn't work.

Eventually I got an appointment with a sleep doctor and I made some adjustments in my lifestyle:

1) One hour intense exercise EVERY day. This was the hardest to miss after my accident but I'm finally back there.
2) No booze. A beer occasionally, maybe a martini but since I didn't really drink before I don't really miss it.
3) No tobacco. Didn't smoke but I did chew for quite a few years. Some people really have a hard time kicking it but for me I put it down one day and didn't think about it again. Haven't had any nicotine for close to 12 years now.
4) Going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day where possible. Sleeping in hasn't been an issue but sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day. The trick is learning to let that go and realize I can finish polishing a stone or painting a room the next day.

I've found that the only advantage my insomnia has comes at this time of year.... when the Junior Hockey Championship is played in Russia and the games are on at 2:30 AM

Zopiclone..... not sure I spelled that right... too lazy to check right now

One little non-addictive little blue pill that helps you take at bed time to help quiet your mind without making you either an addict or a dopey.

Talk to your Doc about em.... they help.

How do you ensure you take the right little blue pill? One makes you sleep the other makes wood not sleep.

If you take the one that makes wood first and you have an evening of fun you won't need the other little blue pill to make you sleep
