Jumping Pound Creek
Would someone be willing to make note of the conditions at jumping pound creek (ie water clarity). I have some work to do north of the trans canada highway in the near future and it would be much easier if I could plan it around the water being clear.
Thanks.

Was somewhat turbid the last few days but hasn't had the big run-off from the higher country. We're in for more precipitation and cooler temps in both the high and low country starting today. I'll be heading that way tonight or tomorrow and I'll send word.

Awesome, thanks so much for the info. Any idea when you would expect full mountain run-off this year?

Could be any time in in the next couple weeks. Depends on when it warms up up high. It started a bit last week, but has since been postponed with another 50+cms of snow at treeline, with more to come.
Just drove over it 40 mins ago. It's a little turbid, but low and slow with the recent temperature drop. But it's certainly not chocolate milk. That'll change pretty quick this next week when it warms up again.
There's still probably close to two meters of snow up at the top of the drainage basin. So that's got to disappear. Most years, that part of the Eastern slope starts running off some time in May, and comes down by the beginning of June, at least until the Monsoon hits.

I have crossed the creek in numerous spots over the past few weeks from Highway 1 and then up into the mountains and it has really varied depending on weather. As Heavy K said, if it warm and there is run off, it gets milky. If it has been cold for a few days though it gets crystal clear. I was walking along the creek a few weeks ago on Powder Face and it was beautiful and made me really wish it was open to fishing. Last week I went by again and it was pretty silty.

I have a friend who lives near JP Creek and she walks her dog past it every day and she said it is pretty dirty and high right now
