I use 308 loaded with 180 grain handloads for bear and moose. And 243 with 85 grain handloads for coastal deer and wolves. I believe that you choosing a rifle that fits you properly is more important than caliber when looking at 270, 7mm, 308 etc. A rifle that fits you properly will have less felt recoil than others. My first rifle was a savage axis in 3006 and it felt like I was shooting a howitzer....didn’t fit me properly at all..
