Default Fishing at Eagle Lake

I went with my kids last weekend fishing at Eagle lake, however, very dirty and no way to fish this lake from on-shore.
We saw 4 people wearing waders around 50~60 meters inside the lake, water almost at their chest level, they were using big spoons. I think they were targeting big pikes.

We went around the lake, mainly north close to the house beside the boat landing, and south at the campground.

Finally, we discovered that the best way to fish this lake is to have a boat but we do not have one.

If anyone here with a boat wants to try Eagle lake and looking for someone to spend some hours fishing over there, please send me a message and we could arrange something.

I am from Calgary.

Many thanks.

I wouldn't put my boat in Eagle Lake or fish there in the summer. Last time I was there, the lake was so slimy and stinky and thick with algae; plus the boat launch sucks. It's too bad because the lake is located so close to Calgary. I've only caught a couple pike out of there in the winter.

Hi Lambo.

Thanks for your input.

Any better places for big pike specially with on shore fishing opportunities as I do not have boat.

Many thanks

Eagle is full of blue agae right now and that stuff will actually stain your boat. The guys that wade into that muck and keep the fish are I am sure never in need of a laxative.

Where abouts at Glenmore Reservoir did you fish and what did you use to catch the pike? I tried there earlier this week but did not have any luck...

Thanks in advance!

Maybe try Crawling Valley, lots of fishing opportunities from shore there.

Is there a certain spot at Crawling Valley where you've had success? Looking to go tomorrow.

Try fishing at Pine Coulee and Little Bow Provincial Park, I've had success at both locations while fishing off the docks.

For pike fishing from shore I'd suggest Clear lake just east of Stavely. There's a campground with sites close to the water and a dock that you can fish from, also a man made rock wall but it's harder to access. There's even a nice playground for the kids if they get bored. Just remember you can't keep any pike under 100cm and the fish cops are there regularly.
