just like ice fishing only its a fly ..

I use Nymphs

but you could use a spin cast and bobber with a wire worm on any whitefish lake in Alberta ..

in summer time Whitefish are under fished in Alberta .wow why

best eating for omega oils and easy to catch ..with lots in each lake and they are natural

here is a San Juan Worm I use and a beaded mini San Juan Worm

in 2 fow to 4 fow

So this catch a whitefish in soft water season bug has had me for a while, So this is my year Next week I start 2 weeks at the cabin at Dory lake. It's a big place I I am trying to break down places to try. I have a couple of ideas.

The first is fishing the deep side of the usual pike spots I could see the white fish cruising the outside edge of weed beds. Slip bobber or fly rod.

The next would be to go back to where I have seen whites before, though it was May long days after ice out on the weed edge of a big mud flat just outside of a major pike spawning bay. I don't know if the whites I saw were just there because of spawning or they would cruse there all year.

The last is the deep water break off of a huge sand flat I have picked up fish on the sounder but this can just as easily be walleyes but IDK.

Where would you start peeling the onion.

Sometimes you will see whitefish schools sucking on the surface. Then try Speckles set up. If you're seeing fish deeper on the sonar, try jigging with castmaster type lures.
