There's actually a way to put those maps on a Garmin Handheld GPS'

It's not as simple as it sounds, but I've done it on mine, mainly because I'm too cheap to buy the app!

Absolutely, you could spend $150+ on a handheld GPS unit and try to figure out how to enter the mapping in...

Or, for $141 less, you could pay the $9 for the app... That there is referred to as cost avoidance. Lol!

I have a Lowrance sounder/plotter combo and I still use the app. Some situations where lakes aren't on the Navionics Gold card, but are on the app.

Well I certainly didn't buy a Garmin just for a few depth charts. I was simply saying it to inform those who already have a garmin GPS and who want something a little bit more accurate than a cell phone GPS; without having to buy a new app. Most people aren't aware that you can put the free Alberta government bathymetric maps on a Garmin.

Finally made the trip this weekend. It was windy so we didn't bother putting the boat in, fished from shore in the south prov park and caught lots in the 50-54cm range. Took us awhile to fill our medium tags. Lots of walleye in there.
