About fifteen years ago a dog breeder who lives in Milo bred too many dogs than he could afford to pay for so he released them in the lake. They have been thriving since there is so much forage. I believe they were German Shepherds. They are really easy to catch on a pickerel rig with smelts.

I could not believe my eyes today. I drove across the causeway and low and behold 2 females were fishing!! If they are members please check the regs! Before I get flamed I was working and had a couple of customers with me. When I was done with them I went back to get the info to report and they were gone. They couldn't have been there very long but still.

I for one appreciate the update. I am fully aware of the regs, but I do always wonder what the water conditions are leading into season as I can't just drive by to see if she's open.

If you need the regs, here they are;

McGregor Lake Reservoir – Walleye limit 0; Pike limit 3 over 63 cm;
Perch limit 15; Lake Whitefish limit 10; Burbot limit 10.
May 8 to Nov. 30 – Open only between sunrise and sunset of each day.
Dec. 1 to Mar. 15 – Open 24 hrs.
