One more for ya an actual bear skinned and ribs cutout showing vitals...
shows good example why bears are lost with broadside shots that areslight high mid body...no mans land or much for vitals...

Wow.

Is the first pic. of a black with browns ?
I had no idea they would do that.

The pic. of the vitals was about the best I've seen so far, to get a
good idea of where the heart and lungs really set in a bear.
I've seen other pictures and see the difference in the foreleg bones but
the other pictures were mostly drawings or propped up bears and
I wasn't sure about the way things looked, just didn't quite seem
natural. So I wasn't sure if the positions and angles were quite right.

That picture you posted is much more convincing and gives me a
lot more confidence on exactly where to aim on a bear.

Yup that bear is propped up too, but is done well and appears
much more what I would expect. Good find, helped me hope it
helps others here too.

when is spring bear season in Alberta? when is the best time to hunt ?

Lots of places start april 1st and end June 15th.
