Default Ice Hut in Ghost Lake

To the owner who has ice hut in West end of Ghost Lake. Your house is floating on the shore now, it may be little easy for you to retrieve it.

Hopefully the owners get fined for allowing that to happen. Totally irresponsible behaviour.

Hope it can get pulled out of there. Owners should pay for recovery plus fines....

Should get a $5000.00 littering fine, plus cost of recovery and clean up.

Regards,

Regards,
As I read through this thread my mind is thinking, woooow.

BWM's response is the closest to my thinking....

Get it secured whilst it is close to shore. Aren't all structures supposed to post some contact info on them?

That smooth, unobstructed and flat shore could cause a bit of an extraction problem...

It’s supposed to be like that here too. From the regs:

“ALL ICE FISHING SHELTERS THAT ARE ON THE ICE FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS MUST BE LABELLED ON THE OUTSIDE WITH 2.5 cm BLOCK LETTERS OR LARGER WITH WiN NUMBER OR NAME AND PHONE NUMBER. ICE FISHING SHELTERS MUST BE REMOVED FROM THE ICE BY MARCH 15 IN PP1 AND MARCH 31 EVERYWHERE ELSE.”

Any report of missing or wayward fishermen on Ghost Lake? You never know what you may discover inside?

I've walked around it a few times when it was still sitting on the ice. No numbers to trace it back to anyone. My best guess would be that it's from one of the first nations. Seen a couple try to remove it multiple times before it sank, but since it sat in the same spot for the whole season it froze pretty deep into the ice. They managed to drag it a good 150 yards downstream before the nose broke through.

On March 28, bunch of Police and firefighters came over behind the church. I had conversation with the officer. He said someone reported that a truck with the ice hut broke through and the truck was under the ice. They did not go over to check the ice hut since the ice was thin.
