It will be interesting to see if the amount of priority points it takes to draw a given species goes up this year with out of province hunters still being allowed into the draw. I know that on the BC side there was a lot of concerns around the rumour that the draws would be completely closed this year for out of province hunters so I’m thinking there may be a lot of people looking to cash in before they lose that ability and all the points that they have acquired.

For me, I put in for one lottery draw and 999’d the rest. I build priority points each year with the idea I might go on a hunt down the road and want the opportunity to be available if I decide to go that way. I don’t ever put in for a draw unless I’m willing and able to go.

With such good general seasons there will still be lots of opportunities to get out and fill the freezer.

Only have high enough priority for possibly an antlered moose up North. Everything else got 999’d. The wife is in the same boat so she might get Antlerless Moose. My son won’t have much time this fall so all of his were put in just to build priority.

Non trophy sheep is the plan for this year! Could pull an antlered mule deer tag as well but undecided about that one as of right now.

Well in my haste I accidentally put in for anterless moose instead of antlered. Oh well doubt I'm getting my moose tag this year That will teach me for rushing things. 999'ed antlered elk and Mule deer though.

Drew for antlered moose last year and didn't get to go, so starting the long road back to decent priority this year

Any time before the draws close, you can go back in and fix that if you want to. It is pretty easy and if you have problems the girls on the help line are really good.

Yup you have until the closing date to edit any draw applications.

Thanks for that, I thought once I confirmed it I was stuck with it.

For the record you can edit the zones and partners online but you can not change the draw code or cancel the draw entry. You must call in cancel the mistaken draw then repurchase the correct draw.

At least it's fixed now and I have a shot at getting my draw this year. About 75% according to last years results.

until time and money allow hunts outside the cwd zones for deer may just have to go with the 999. was premature last year and lost $320 worth of meat and sausage due to these damn pirons. first time happened to me. i thought i was fine as last weekend in 150 finally came across a couple of bucks in a herd of deer. buddy and i each took one for last day. real healthy looking wh tail 3 pts. his was fine..mine ended up with the piron. they say i get a tag this year.., maybe will get a chance to head to the crowsnest area.. not sure.
rather not want to debone and freeze the cuts of meat then thaw and cut into pcs and make sausage, then refreeze again.., tends to dry out the meat.

a bit of a decision to make..

999 for almost everything this year. Have high priority for Antlered Elk but can't decide where to draw a tag. Should get drawn for 438 Trophy Sheep and Mountain Goat this year though so things aren't bad!

999 everything. No interest in shooting anything other than upland.

999 antlered mule deer, late season antlered moose. Schedule is too busy to hunt during early season.

Can you put in for 999 if you don't have a valid wildlife certificate?

Impact and Hal, next year you will need both a Win card and must purchase hunting license before you can apply for any draws.
