Truck Camper Bed Capacity

Hey fellas.......I'm sure quite a few of you out there have some older truck campers for hunting or fishing adventures so I just have a couple quick questions.

I picked up an older (80's) Vanguard truck camper and I'm just curious about the capacity of the upper bunk. The unit's in pretty great shape/solid so it doesn't appear there has been much for deterioration and I'm assuming that the upper/front/over the cab portion must be steel framed of some sort either way.

Roughly speaking - between my lady and I we would be looking at somewhere in the 350 - 370lb range combined. Mostly me of course......and dependent on how much fresh fish or steak I eat......

Again, I'm assuming these were built to expect a couple adults sleeping up there so no worries but I'd rather not have it collapse into the roof of my truck. There will be a few test runs before it goes in but I figured I'd ask if anyone had any horror stories.

As far as I know they are all 2x2” wood construction throughout the whole camper. At least all the ones that I’ve worked on have been.

As far as weight goes you should be fine at 350 lbs.

Thanks Positrac - - - but man....extending out like that only using 2x2's seems sketchy but I'll definitely give it a test run before I cave it into the roof of my truck! Looks solid - but she is well over 30yrs old.

Just be careful about how much wine you both drink around the camp fire. If things get very romantic after that could test the strength of the camper overhang. Just kidding around most Vanguards were well built campers, not much room though to get overly aggressive.
