Possibly a ringed neck pheasant? but the tail should be longer.

That is "Speedy" the Ring-necked Pheasant. Good thing he didn't get caught/shot. It would be the Alberta equivalent of "Cecil"!!!

Still laughing at the "RED-NECKed Pheasant" comment

Ring Neck that just had a close call with a coyote, the dog got the tail feathers upon take off!
