I moved here from Ontario and we used to talk about how terrible the Toronto drivers were when they came up north for the weekend. However, after moving to Calgary I can honestly say that Calagry drivers are WORSE than Toronto drivers, and that sayin something.

Rumor is, if you pay the extra $75 to have the driver exam read to you, you can't fail.

Language requirements only apply to economic immigrants. The dr's we bring in for example, must speak english or french, but the spouse or family does not have to. If he sponsors his brother to come over as family class, his brother doesn't have to either.

Economic immigrants are not our problem though, they are educated, hard working tax payers and pay more taxes than the average Canadian too. It is the family class immigrants I question.

Off topic but.......I teach the CFSC, at the end of the course when I am handing out the written test, I handed one to a middle aged gent, he threw his arms up and scoffed at me. Gave me this "what am I supposed to do with this" look. I am lost and another fella says,

"He doesn't speak English."

Turns out this guy and another, sat in on the whole course and didn't understand a word I said, and expected to pass. Wow.

anywhere with extensive amounts of straight roads.... No one actually learns how to drive, they just learn how to use a gas and brake pedal.

Which really means Calgarians and Edmontonians aren't the problem, but, rather, the rural folks who come for the rodeo, lost, rubber-necking, looking at their maps, unfamiliar with on ramps, etc.

I was in left turning lane and stopped - he cut across 3 lanes of traffic when he hit me. saturday morning - no road hazzards
He was ticketed.

Accident 3 - I was in bed asleep.
Car was parked in front of house.
WHITE MALE Teenager lost control on icy roads and smashed my rear end.
He did come to my door to tell me.
Friday night after 11pm
He was ticketed.

Accident 4 - I hit black ice. lost control and hit a pickup
I was ticketed even though he was speeding and clearly at fault, because I lost it on a left turn I got fined.

Let's hear your vote for the worst.
Interestingly, when I lived in Saskatoon for three years I found the drivers to be much more tame than in Alberta. No red light races, always making room for lane changes when a signal goes on, generally docile and travel at or below the speed limits.

Alberta on the other hand.... Everyone has already summed it up how embarrassingly horrible it is. Los Angeles drivers in the Hills area can be aggressive as heck with engines constantly screaming, but some notable driving ability to match. Perhaps that is part of our problem, aggression without skill or care.

100% the ability to not get stuck in a field does not mean you belong on Henday or Deerfoot

Oh its my fault for not smashing into the vehicles in front of me who were stopped when the guy behind me couldnt figure out where his brakes were?

Oh its my fault the bus driver backed his bus into a ditch and rolled us?

Its my fault the drunk driver didnt know the difference between the road and the sidewalk he hit us on?

Its my fault the guy driving his wifes beamer cut across 3 lanes of traffic and collided with my vehicle that was stopped on a red signal?

Cause obviously men know more than use women.........
I cant believe anyone would suggest men are smarter

I only have issues with men who dont know how to drive.
My phone is tucked into the bottom of my purse when I drive.
My purse is normally out of reach when I am driving..... so that there is no chance of me being accused of being a dumb chicky.

I will be a little more specific, I was cut off twice near the intersection of 22nd street and hiway 7, once south on hiway 7 just past the Cory mine, and on Circle drive just east of Idlewilde.

"Worst" is a vague term. What is the criteria?

If you mean the "drivers who are most likely to cause a fatality", there is no debate. It's men.
http://www.iihs.org/research/fatalit...nder&year=2007

There is a reason insurance companies charge males higher premiums.
