Nope... none at all as long as you have a PAL.

Yes I do thanks pesky. Figure maybe do some walking about and find out where the deer like to go for in the fall. I didn't think there'd be any reason I couldn't thanks

if you're worried about getting in trouble CARRYING a gun around and getting accused of something etc... buy a bear tag and maybe fill the freezer and get a nice rug

Yeah, I'm more or less bringin it for if a bear shows up to where I'm camping I can scare it away. I will only shoot at it if it charges me.

No issues with bringing a gun, but as mentioned, buying a bear tag is a good idea, and they are cheap.

Nothing they can do unless you misuse it. You may run into someone that will give you hard time but nothing they can do about it.

We were camping and fishing at Beaver Mines lake one year. I still had my rifle boot on my Rhino. Some guy approached me and said, "there are no guns allowed in the campground" I told him I knew this. So he says he had one of the campers tell him about the rifle boot and they were concerned. I told him no reason for concern, and got in the Rhino to go back to camp. He says let me see your rifle. Now the guy is starting to get under my skin, his tone and demeanor are like super cop. So I said why, never seen one before? OK, game on. He says can't let you run around here with a gun. You can't stop me from doing anything Captain America. Where are you camped smart azz? Follow me and you will see dumb azz. So he follows me back to camp and starts writing stuff down. You haven't heard the last of this he says as he leaves. One hour later here comes the calvary, RCMP sneaks into camp like he is looking for an ambush. He gets everyone out of the trailer, and starts asking questions. Can I see your firearm? Don't have one here, they are all at home. I opened the gun boot, no rifle, I told him he could look in the trailer if he was interested in doing so. He did, no rifle, he turns to my grandson and says where is his gun. Kid says I don't know, home I guess. The cop says we got a report that your were running around the campground with a gun. I just laughed, not surprised I say. Why didn't you just show the guy you had no gun, could have saved a lot of trouble. None of his business I said and if he wasn't playing his super dude roll I may have. Besides this is no trouble to me, kind of fun actually. So he says OK show me your id and I will be on my way. You know who I am after running my plates don't you? He just left, went to the camp guardian then left. This is how you have fun when the fish aren't biting. Sorry didn't mean to derail your thread.

Should we be encouraging a guy who doesnt understand the most basic rights of gun ownership to carry a gun on the long weekend?......The OPs question seems ridiculous to me....discuss. Good luck "deep in the woods" BTW LOL

Sorry Burglecut, but this is where I have an issue. It may just be worded poorly but the attitude seems to be to use the gun first. Just avoid him and let him mosey on by himself. The gun should be absolutely a last resort.

Just my opinion about how some folks deal with our forest dwellers. I've been in the bush since I was a pup, seen lots of critters and NEVER once felt I needed a firearm for defence.

I know, I know......"What IF!"

Bring spray, at least you will taste better with some spice.

Billie I have alot of bush time too, no incidents other than being tracked by a cougar at the Kootenay River....so there is a "What If"...here is a couple of many close calls of a charging bear when people and bears cross paths (see video links below). Also a few summers ago a large black bear chased a man around his camper at Beaver Lake, with many kids close by, F&W had to shot the bear....how would you like your kids being put in that danger? I have no problems with bears, however I will be packing "just in case" whenever I am stream fishing from now on, that cat stalking us incident was a little too close for comfort for me. I am responsible and a safe individual whom has never shot anything for the thrill of it (other than gophers and magpies) So here is a couple of many close calls videos....warning shot was fired and saved both the bear and humans....bear spray is useless.

Long as your not in a park it should be ok...

You might get a visit from F&W, I'd advise you to only keep slugs or buck in it unless your comfy being accused of poaching chickens, a bear tag is also a good idea

Maybe if people were more like pincherguy the FW would stop harassing ppl so bad just because there packing a gun. Although there are so many laws Nd regulations that they could pretty much come up with something to nail you for.
I say pack your gun and make it as difficult and and annoying for them to harass you.
But if there polite and respectful and hve more of a conversation rather then demanding I'd be nice too.

If you've never had a hunting license anywhere before, you need to take the hunter training course. Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think bear season is already closed in some WMUs, so walking around with an expired bear tag might get you in some trouble.

As a bit of an extension to the original question, what happens to storage laws while camping? Honest questions here as I do not know the answer.

Is the firearm considered to always be in use or do you still need to comply with gun and ammunition storage laws?

I would guess that the clause about being in a wilderness area would likely apply where the firearm cannot be locked in a case or a car because of need for protection from wildlife?

There is no law against carring a firearm weather it be a 22, shotgun, rifle in green timber as long as you have a pal and its for protection. I have never had an issue yet being stopped or checked camping with a firearm unless you are not in green timber or unless your in a provincial campground. Never had the need though for a firearm in a campground. but then again that wasnt the question he is going in green timber. No law Ive ever heard of in green timber carrying a firearm for protection

I agree. Why does everyone make it sound like you need some reason to bring one. If you want to bring one, just bring one. If f and w show up and accuse you of anything ask them to prove it. Just because a guy has a gun in the bush doesn't mean he is automatically a poacher.

Eggzacly. You can pack any legal firearm you have as long as you have a PAL.You don`t need any tags at all.You don`t need to make up stories as to why you have one.You don`t need to choose slugs over birdshot, you don`t need to explain anything to anyone.
It`s legal,I`m legal,get lost.

Can`t believe how many guys here are ***** footin` around.

Good question. I think only the judge could answer that. How do you determine if you "need" protection? I would never leave it unattended. Then it doesnt matter.

Exactly. If you have a gun and a dead deer well that's a different story. But until you do its all copacetic with me.

That's that I stated in another thread that the wildlife biologists when conducting field research carry shotguns and not bear spray. They feel spray is useless too.

Keep it locked up out of sight in your truck or camper, all good.
Hey Deanmc,if you "need" protection, you will know it.There has been some pretty bad things happened at campsites before with drinking and idiots breaking in to campers.
