Default Pearch over 8 inches

Pearch over 8" is there such a thing left in Alberta. If so where and what kind of difficulty is involved in going after a few for the breakfast pan?

I pulled a couple around that size out of sherburne this year. Fincastle is supposed to have some that size as well.

i think it helps that the commercial fisherman are there to take the white fish out but also the northerns get tangled up in the nets aswell. last year a 35lbs and quite a few 20 plus pounders got tangled up.

Gull Lake has had some good perch the past few years.

Default Slave Lake Off of Cutbank

Forget 8 inch perch, Punch a ton of holes off of cutbank and you will see 12 - 14 inch perch. Key is you have to cut LOTS of holes and constantly move. No hole produces more than 3 in a row.

Slave Lake still has them as well. I caught this one bottom bouncing for walleye and we had one bigger than this get off at the boat.

Funny how the bigger ones always get off at the side of the boat! How long is that perch, are they getting any in midnapore lake?

Ya BuckKrazy, it sucks losing those big ones. My wife's 89 year old granmda caught it and she tried lifting it in the boat bass pro style. The thing looked like a friggin football! My fingers are 3" across so that perch is 11-12". I released it so I didn't get a chance to measure it.

Perch in Midnapore are stunted. I don't think any are over 8". Sundance lake however, still has some big ones. Biggest measured so far was 16". Quite a few around 14". Last fall I got buckets of them fly fishing with a water boatman pattern. They probably average 8-10".
