Default looking for a good, easy fishing lake near calgary

I am looking for a lake near Calgary to take my 9 yr old son this summer. We are new to Calgary and have no idea. Thanks for the help.

What are you looking to fish? Chestermere is fun for pike, there are a few stocked ponds around the area for rainbows.

There are stocking information online letting you know when and where has been stocked. Just Google alberta stocking reports.

Pine Coulee is an hour south of Calgary.
Chestermere is maybe 30 minutes east of Calgary.
Midway Reservoir is an hour north of Calgary.

Within Calgary there is the kids trout pond at pearce estate park and there is also Carburn pond (I'm not sure how stocked it is though).

I haven't fished out there for years, but McLean Pond is a pretty good place to bring beginners, it's out by Bragg Creek.

The Kinsman pond in Stathmore is perfect for kids. Get a pickerel rig and a box of Valvetta cheese and fish off the dock. Rainbows r gaurenteed

Fish creek park in Calgary has always been a gravy spot for me.
