Default Where is the Best Place to Fly Fish This Time of Year?

Hello:

My fishing buddy and I are in Calgary and are looking at fly fishing for 4 days starting this Wednesday. Does anyone have any great ideas where a great place to camp a trailer and fly fish would be this time of year? We would like to fish both lakes and rivers somewhere in either Alberta or BC. If you have a great suggestion please reply and I will try to send the person with the best suggestion a 26 ounce prize.

Much appreciated,
Nick from SK

you will be pretty limited on rivers this time of year as most of the decent rivers don't open till beginning to mid june.

that being said, there are a few decent rivers in the Rocky Mountain House area that are open this time of year that fish pretty decent. and there is also a few nice stocked lakes in the area to camp at as well. also farther west by Nordegg there is Fish (Shunda) lake and Goldeye Lake that are not too bad if they are ice free yet. also a few streams are open like Shunda Creek that is not too bad for flyfishing.

take at look at the regs for streams that are open and plan accordingly.
