I made a trip east of Taber yesterday, sugar factory and fincastle were both wide open. I am thinking horsefly would be the same.

drove by the oldman resivoir today, and the ice is coming off nicely. Could almost launch a boat at windy point on the east side near the spilway. but there is still about 10 feet of ice till open water. but I think a week yet.

There could be a makeshift launch but im not to sure. You could easily hand launch a little tinner in there. Same with sugar factory lake. I launch my tinner in there a few times a year and go hammer on the pike before the weeds get out of control. I may have to head out there this weekend if the weather is decent.

been wide open for a few weeks already. Lots of people fishing it. All of the ponds around the city are wide open.

Was out openign weekend at Police in the Blizzard. 4 people fishing for 2 hours caught absolutely nothing. There was open water then around the airators and at the bridge so there is likely some open water to fish now. Dont think it will be to much though.

Any word on Clear Lake?
I'm itching to get out there and toss some topwaters out.

How about Crawling Valley and Travers? I'm getting that restless urge to float the boat as well.

Tyrell was 70% clear Tuesday and so should be clear today. Mcgregor is an icecube and will be for a while.

Does anyone know about the ice off progress at lake Minnewanka so far?

I'm thinking of heading there on the May long weekend.

No progress to date. Froze solid. Watch for news on Spray Lake and figure Minnewanka is a week behind it.

Thanks for the info Kokanee.

It looks like Minnewanka won't be boat fishable till June.
Oh well, on the bright side, there will be less fishing pressure on that lake this year so the fishing will be better there next year.
