I had 2 beaver and 2 castoreum in the last auction. One XL beaver sold but, from the auction newsletter, they held back the smaller L beaver because the prices were low. Canadian prices:

Beaver XL *l BR SEMI = $40.92

Castoreum CLN $4.22/OZ = $29.51

The beaver that sold was trapped in the Fall and the castors were from 2 Spring beaver. I don't understand the CLN grading for the castoreum but that's okay, I'll take it. I got very lucky with the one beaver that sold, my first without putting any holes in it while fleshing.

I had one GARBAGE incidental wild mink. Large, but no fur. Held over the last 2 years. Sold for 1.24$ Canadian. After Nafa took royalties, my cheque was 1.10$ Canadian. Cost them more to print it off and send it than it's worth lol oh well!

I averaged $108 on my first 2 weeks worth of coyotes. They were all caught in Mid November. I had 2 damaged go for $20 each and 2 damaged for $40 each. I had one sell for $183. The guy doing mine is slowly learning so I hope they get better. Will see this next sale what happens and I expect higher prices.

I found a buyer for beaver now. I get $25 each for them so I can't complain about that.

Muskrat averaged $5.77 out of the 200 I sold

I averaged 124 on my coyotes . I got 183 for my best and 28 and 42 for 2 damaged ones. All of my dogs were caught between October 24 and December 7.

There are three grades of castor.

#1 Castors that are clean, full pods and no holes.

#2 Ordinary, castors with holes, large castors with only small amounts of castoreum in the pods and castoreum that is too dry to be #1.

#3 Castors that are small, shells, and castor that is too poor to be #2.
CLN is #1

Thanks, Jim.

For future reference, if #1 is CLN, what is #2 & #3......ORD & PR? I knew about the number designation (as described in the online NAFA manual) so seeing a CLN instead of a #1 seemed odd to me as a new Trapper.
