Default Amsoil for Eskimo Augers

I've been reading that using Amsoil 2 cycle oil in your auger combined with 91 octane is the ticket to the best running auger. What do you guys use for fuel and oil? I currently use 87 octane and the 50:1 Eskimo viper 2 cycle oil with stabilizer.

Default Auger

I always used Amsoil, 87 octane, and an ounce of sea foam per 2L jug of gas

Stay away from regular ethanol gas for all 2 stroke engines.
goto puregas website for high octane fuel providers across Canada

I used to work with a guy who sold it, don’t remember the mome on the bottle.
I think peavy mart sells it. Opti-2 oil is very good also, and is quite available.

I use the eskimo brand from Cabelas and 94 octane fuel and it has made a huge difference in how my stingray runs and starts.I thought at first that I had a crappy new auger and it was just the proper fuel mixture.

Shell premium with Opti 2. Been using for years and use the same jug for all my toys all year long. One mix for everything and comes in a 1 gallon pre measured amount if you have one of the small gas jugs. No messing around. Gas will last 2 years so unless you never use it for anything or just fishing good for a couple seasons.

I used to use amsoil saber but found it burned dirty at 50:1. Probably not an issue on an auger that runs a few tanks a year but a pain on motors with more use.

I've using redline now for quite a few years and it's much cleaner. i've had the top end off motors with gallons through them and they're clean as a whistle. I know guys that run opti 2 that like it as well.

I've used the Saber and the Interceptor brands of Amsoil products and I couldn't tell the difference between them. I believe the Interceptor type is supposed to be formulated for snowmobiles, but don't quote me. As long as it says Amsoil 2 stroke oil on the bottle I'm sure you can't go wrong. Mix as lean as your dare as they (Amsoil) say that you can run 100:1 with their oil even if that's not what the manufacturer recommends. I usually mix at about an 80:1 ratio roughly and add a shot of Sea Foam like another poster said. Keeps everything clean and running smooth.

Because it says so right in the manual for my auger:

Quote:
Use unleaded regular gas only.
It is best to use premium gasoline that has no ethanol content.

Works like a charm, been using premium fuel in my Eskimo Barracuda Plus auger with Opti 2 for many years along with all my other units. I leave the fuel mix in year round with no issues.

Shell premium and stihl two stroke oil for my two stroke stuff. Comes in a nice little six pack of little jugs that are what you need to mix a gallon. Get yourself a one gallon jerry and it makes life pretty simple. Just my opinion and I've tried them all amsoil is a great product for larger hotter running 2 strokes. I just find it goes stale when mixed and not burnt within a couple weeks. Including in the tank of your auger.

Regular gas, ethanol and all, mixed with Sthil oil for my chainsaws is what goes in the auger too. Only ever had problems with bad fuel twice in my life time. Both times was Shell premium.

I’ve used motomaster 2 cycle oil with shell premium gas for many years and never once had a problem. I drain all fuel and run sea foam through my auger after every season. My Eskimo auger has drilled 1,000’s of holes and will start on the second pull even in -35.

You have to put oil in augers?!

Petro Canada 91 Octane and Husquvarna 2 Stroke Oil. Auger always starts first pull, no choke, at any temperature. Burns clean, runs clean, cuts clean.

Reg gas sometimes 1-2 years old and a random 2 stroke oil worked for years then it seemed plugged up one year ( I never flush it out or anything) so I ran a little sea foam thorough it and 5 min later it was good as new. Maybe I just been getting lucky with the jiffy.

Premium fuel and amsoil sabre in my strikemaster. Found the sabre ran a bit cleaner than the stihl oil.

The Eskimo oil has a fuel stabilizer in it. If anyone had a vested interest in Eskimo augers preforming well, it’s Eskimo.
Not suggesting it’s magic oil, and it’s certainly the same as 1 or more brands yet with a stabilizer added.
Shell premium has no ethanol and ethanol will deteriorate certain rubber type materials. Like orings and seals. The longer it sits, the greater the effect.
I’ve had 2-stroke gas go bad after a winter to the point a motor wouldn’t start or run well on it. I would imagine the octane level drops with time, and add ethanol and your rate likely increases.
Eskimo oil $3 + 1 gallon premium $4. $7 for a season of fuel, and enough left over for a chainsaw or what not in spring doesn’t sound too expensive to try and find another way.

I use the same oil 2 stroke for my off road bike and Stihl weedwacker, leaf blower, chain saw and Eskimo ice auger...
91 octane mixed at 50:1 with Bell Ray Si7 synthetic oil.
If it's good enough for the 10k bike it's good enuff for everything else....and I don't have to have multiple mixed gases around.
Everything runs great and clean.
