Default Registering A Boat?

Hey All,
I am about to get a boat very soon and am going to register it. I was wondering is there a legal age you need to be to register a boat? I am 14 have my boaters license and like I said need to register a boat. Can I register it in my name or not?

Don't think so. I think it would be kinda like a car or trailer. In Alberta you have to be 18 to legally own one.

Check with the Can. govt web site, it should have some info there under transp Canada or fisheries.

Hi Trap,

You can license a boat. You cannot do it at an Alberta Registry office.

The proper forms and information can be found here:

http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety...ce-3211.htm#a7

Print the application, fill it out, mail it to New Brunswick and wait!

Have fun in your boat!

Already printed off and filled out the forms was just wanting to make sure I can register it myself because of my age!

I couldn't find anywhere on the Government website which states a minimum age requirement. There is no cost for the license, so I would imagine it is open to whomever takes the time to go through the process properly.

It doesnt matter as long as your name is on the title of the boat , as for trailer might be a little more hard to do but not to sure about that , call a registries office in the morning .

But as far as the boat goes as long as your name is on the bill of sale shouldnt be an issue .

When I just bought my boat Bass Pro did all the paper work I signed it read it over and they sent it im awaiting the registration number myself so I can go to my Buddy who does the sticker stuff .

Hope that helps .
