Default Sight in help needed

A buddy of mine is interested in archery. I still have my old bow so we set it up for him. When he shot, he shot left. Ok, no problem, move the sight left. Keep going the same way and now we have maxed the sight all the way over and he's still shooting to the left. About 4" at 20 yards.
The arrow sits in the rest square to the bow, right over the riser, coming out straight with the stabilizer. The only thing that has changed from me shooing it to him is moving the sight left by almost an inch.

I know I'm missing something in this, I am thinking it's more technique based than equipment but he's shooting with decent form, an open hand, straight shoulders, etc.

Are there any tips without pictures that you can give?

Is he left handed?

I'm a south paw and when I snap the release i consistently shoot left.

I'm going to guess it's a shooting form issue.

Also, does he have the same draw length to you? If not, that will cause form issues.
Might want to tell him to take the bow to your local pro shop to get fitted.

Also, shameless plug time- we're recording a podcast episode tonight on this very subject. Should be available to download in a couple of days.

Cheers.

He is right handed. We changed his draw length to what he was fitted for.

Is the site mounted level? Is he watching the level when he shoots?

Check the grip, is it to tight and torquing the bow? Overextended elbow?

Check for facial pressure, is his face pressing against the string?

Do you have the correct spine arrows for the bow?

Try moving the rest to the right a bit.

His DL may be too long, make sure to double check it.

Is he left eye dominate?

Lastly make sure he is following through on the shot and not peeking early.

Which sight are you using
Some sights have a block where the sight window attaches to the arm. The Spot hogg hunter has this. Remove sight window off and place the spacer block on the left side of arm and put screws through and bolt on your sight window.
should give enough room.

Open hand, closed hand, it doesn't matter. Consistently to the left. At 20 yards the level means next to nothing but yes, it is. It's my old bow and I shot 60 yards no problems. All we did was change the draw length and start sighting in for him. Elbow has a slight bend. Spine is good. Moved the sight to the right and he was shooting the target paper o the left of his. Right eye dominant for sure.

Sight has no sight blocks. It's a Trophy Ridge areact sight. The only way to get it over far enough would be to mount it on the opposite side of the riser but that's not a very good option.

I told him to head in to a good pro shop to ask for some help. Unfortunately where we were today is great for lanes but I haven't had much luck for service or help there.

I'm just stumped as to what to do next.

What kind of bow? Something must have happened when you were changing draw length. Cam lean, or timing off? Other than that move the rest to the right or go get him shooting help.

We put it back to my draw weight and I could get it shooting fine again so it must be something with his form and that's above me.
