Default Fishing near Sylvan Lake

Hey guys. Bit curious here as to where to go near Sylvan Lake (Or I guess Sylvan Lake itself) to catch fish from the shore. Was out to Dickson 3-4 weekends in a row with no luck. Which gear is best for whichever location would yield the best results? Thanks in advance.

Red deer river opens on the 15th i believe.
Shouldnt be too far of a drive. I have been much more successful on the river than sylvan.
My brother was out at the dickson trout pond past few weeks. He has caught 3-8 fish each time out. He has only used a blue fox lure.
Good luck! Happy fishing.

Is he usin' the whole bobber set up, or just casting out and reeling in? Worm as bait? I guess I should also ask, if Dickson Trout Pond is okay, if I'm just on the wrong side, or wrong area?

The river is defiantly your best option as well but also have spent tones of time on the area. People do well from shore if you know where to be. I don't so my results reflect that. Only been to Dickson trout pond once when I was learning to fish and I got skunked but it is another good option from what I hear. Lots of fish and decent size as well. Sorry wish I had more experience I. The area but this is all I can give you with the time I spend there. If you have a kayak or canoe or anything to get out on sylvan a little bit it is pretty good. Catch decent numbers of fish not far from shore

Hansens reservoir and Niemala reservoir are both stocked with rainbow trout and are very close. Never been myself but have heard good and bad about both.

Just casting and reeling.
Using those orange marshmellow looking things as bait. Cant for the life of me remember the name of them.
Edit: what squidlips said too!
