Steppenwolf. Formed in Toronto in 1967, made it big in the U.S. with "Born to be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", "The Pusher" and others.
Brought to mind only because it was announced two hours ago that the original Keyboardist Goldy McJohn died of a heart attack.
I remember listening to some of their original stuff in the late '60's (I was 16).
