Man, didn't realize how much I hate Canadian music until I read over this thread. I'm reading and going "hate 'em, hate 'em, hate those guys...." LOL Whole lot of crap thrown on the radio because of Cancon, because stations had to play SOMETHING. Cory Hart doing babytalk singing...
OK OK, I'll give you one I just rediscovered... Took the first date I ever had to this concert at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium... Lighthouse. Canada's poor man version of Chicago... or Blood Sweat and Tears.

How about the Wilson sisters, Heart.
Also some Cape Bretoners should have a mention:
The Rankin Family
Matt Minglewood
Sam Moon
The Barra MacNiels.
Lots of good Canadian music we forget about.

Gordon Lightfoot - Gord's Gold - Gordon Lightfoot
Favorite song - Alberta Bound
It's the first thing I put in when I'm in the basement working my hands in wood.
A classic song from Gordon but didn't get a lot of air time was Circle of Steel.
And then theirs Summer Side of Life, The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Triangle, Sundown, Carefree Highway and all the rest.
:-) Absolutely great stuff.
I can't believe you all didn't adopt the song Alberta Bound as a province song.
I'ld be proud to have a song half as good to represent the state I live in.
And these days it's hard to find a song that's uplifting, happy and inspirational and real.
You got all that and more with Alberta Bound, great song.

I am also a big fan of Big Wreck. Frontman Ian Thornley is quite possibly this country's best guitar player. I was fortunate enough to see them at the bar in GP earlier this year- lovely in such a small, intimate venue.

Ian wouldnt even put himself in the top 10 canadian guitarists let alone the top. Not even close man
