Mods need to lock this one down as it will run a muck soon. Strong minded and highly opinionated outdoorsman and woman on this forum...storms a brewing.

Flint and Fly's mistake was being to open with the standard hacks of AO, he asked a question, albeit a tad odd for us here, but seeking a bit of help. And the same old, same old occurs, by lots of the same notorious pieces of work on here. Questioning a mans religious decisions on a hunting forum can never result in anything other than bad results. You'd think this fellow was joining ISIS by some of the responses. I've not been to church for a very long time, but shutting down all the bad garbage going on in this world for a while sounds like a great mental escape...

Not sure how this man chooses to follow his faith is anyone's business but his own.

You seem to be wound pretty tightly about something you feel the need to mock, because YOU don't believe it.

Maybe you need to go on a retreat to unwind?

I was responding to this statement.

"might be tough for you guys to understand, but much of what is considered okay, legally and morally in western society is actually a far cry from what the Bible says is ok."

I do not need a book to tell me what is moral behaviour and was not mocking anybody or anything.

Just stating what I believe to be a fact.

"Just stating what I believe to be a fact"

That's my point. What you believe is fact, but what someone else believes is a goat herder's fable.

Apology accepted. You are forgiven.

I have nothing to apologize to you for and I don't require your forgiveness.
Enough said, I have no interest in having a battle of wits with an unarmed man.

was not my intent, but kinda revealing to see who mocks, who has respect, and one guy that is willing to give advice off the forum!

Interesting way for a religious group to control it's members.

Now don't ya be emailing those Mormon chicks and causing any problems in Cardston on Saturday nights.

Best of luck on your journey, brother.

Pm incoming.
I respect your decision. My background isn't Mennonite but we are believers.
Regardless I might have some info here and there you can ask me about.

I live in an area where their are lots of Mennonites and I always though they were on the strait and narrow path of life.

They have a church near Steinbach manitoba and it holds maybe 3000 to 5000 people, they got guys directing the people where to park in the parking lot so no one gets in late.
They have a day care center for kids in the church so the families don't miss mass and the church gets all their donations, plus the even have a food court in that church to keep your energy up so you can pull out your wallet faster.

They never had liquor store their till a few years ago and no bars allowed in town. Now theirs lineups outside in the parking lot to get a bottle.

Steinbach is known for being the number one car town in these parts,so they spend all week rippen someone off ,even their own kind, but come sunday every store is closed and of to church to ask god for more money and they all shake hands even with the guy they just burnt on some deal.

This is a small town and it has a credit union worth 1or2 hundred million dollars to build, taken 3 years or more to build, they bought the whole block out for this thing, never seen a building like this in a town this size or church.

I have my own faith in who I believe in and that is between me and god,it's kind of a personal thing and I will not pay anyone for what I believe in or have them prosper from my religious faith.

So what creates or dictates morality or moral behaviour?

Exactly.

Best wishes on your journey, Flint&FlyGuy! I know that there are many here that won't understand, but I'm thankful that we each have the freedom to choose our support network, people that meet us where we are at and help us through.

To answer your original question, I'll add my vote for the TapaTalk app as a possible solution.

Plenty of Mennonites here in Ontario F&FGuy, so if you have any plans of heading this way...I'd be happy to offer you any relevant, area info. In fact, I hunt on 1 Mennonite farm all spring & summer~he doesn't have the time/inclination to shoot their groundhogs...but he wants them gone. Long shot, but I thought I'd offer.

As for some of the comments here...I wouldn't take them to heart. (the negative ones anyway..) While I find a decision like yours to be nearly impossible to understand, I'd have to think the amount of courage to take a step like this speaks to how carefully you considered it. Best of luck with all of it, I hope you find the decision to be fulfilling.

I'd be unable to join a group that decides for me what I can access or what I cannnot, whether they are open about it or not. I can decide what is apporpriate for me and be danged if I'll let somebody else do it. They want to control you and regardless of how they spin it what they mean is that you can't be trusted to make your own decisions and they need to control you. For your own good, of course.

So the MOD's will shut down suffield bull elk threads and the issues related to it but won't shut down a thread full of condescending remarks towards a mans religious beliefs...I am really surprised this is still ongoing. To the OP i say good luck in your new journey.

x3. It wouldn't be my choice (heck, I'd panic if I had to go a week without internet, except when I'm back in the bush!), but I absolutely respect The Flint&Fly Guy's decision to do what he believes is right/necessary.

I don't understand what the problem is for some of you. He's fully aware of what he's doing, he's doing it by choice, and it aligns with his beliefs. If somebody wanted to join a group of agnostics or atheists would you have the same problem? Grow up.

To those that say they would never let someone tell them what they can and cant do, you must be living in some free society commune somewhere, because I have to follow all sorts of rules where I live! I have to insure my quads, register guns, put locks on my guns, not punch random folks, not smoke on busses... see where I'm going with this.
I bet you workplace has some rules, and you accepted them when you agreed to work there, Same with this gentleman.
