Default Recoil question

Hi,

I was wondering what the felt recoil difference is between a .270, .270 featherweight and .308 when loaded the same, i.e. 150.

Thanks

You need to be more specific than that, namely the weight of each rifle. The difference in the weight of the rifle can make a significant difference in recoil. One of the most uncomfortable rifles that I have fired, was a very light Ruger in 270win.

http://www.shooterscalculator.com/recoil-calculator.php

A 165gr 308 Win at max load and a 150gr 270 Win at max load have almost exact same recoil in same weight rifles.

So 150gr 270 in a featherweight will kick the hardest of your three choices, and the 150gr 308 in a rifle heavier than featherweight will be the slightly lighter kicker. But they are all very close.

The type of recoil pad is going to make a bigger difference between 270 and 308.
