Default Cowboy Action Ammunition

I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of Colt pistols recently, a .45 ACP and a .44 Special. Eventually, I plan on getting into reloading but in the meantime I am having a difficult time finding cowboy action cartridges. I did find a couple of boxes of .44 Special at Proline, but that is it so far. Nothing at the Shooting Edge, Bass Pro or Wholesale Sports.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

I've previously seen Black Hills cowboy action ammo at Wolverine Guns & Tackle in Red Deer, though I never recall having seen it in .45 acp.

Since 45acp wouldn't normally be a traditional cowboy cartridge, it's no wonder it doesn't come in such a loading.

I'm hoping that's a typo, a Colt SAA in .45 acp would make my cry.

Why?

I like the way the.45 ACP shoots and I am getting good accuracy from it. I would like to find a regular source for lead nose cartridges for gong shooting (safety). If it was good enough for Patton, it's good enough for me.

If I ever wanted to return it to traditional .45 Colt, that wouldn't be a problem. That said, it looks like I am going to have to either change it or get into re-loading.

Yeah, I get where you are coming from. I have some traditionalist in me too. I love the fact that all of the serial numbers match and it has some history (1880), but I also got it to use and have fun with.
