Default leduc res

i was thinking about getting up one morning and walking over to the leduc reservoir and try my luck at any fish in there.
I know it is stocked but i have never seen any signs of fish in there. We have gotten alot of rain the last month or two so water levels are okay.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried it and had any luck.
I think i might just give it a try and see if i can wake up the fish that are supposed to be in there.

Well, the trout are definitely in their. Here's a pic when I was out with my boy on Father's Day. There were about 7 or 8 in about a foot of water swimming around.

But, I'm not sure I've ever seen anybody have any luck. The resevoir is LOADED with scuds and have plenty to eat.

Best of luck. Let us know how you make out.

See ya

I started a thread on this a few months ago saying i was going to give it a shot as well but never made it out. Not alot of places to cast off shore and a belly boat or something would be the way to go. I agree there are tons of fish in there but never any risers or stories of anyone catching anything as they have sooooo much food. I fished Leduc 25 years ago with success before all the trees and houses, and park now surounds it, plus the layout of the reservoir itself has changed much over the last 25 years. Please let me know, email me or whatever as I am very, very curious to find out how you did. Darren N

i will be sure to let you guys now how it goes. I am going to check out some places that could potentially be a good spot.
I think a big reason why nobody ever catches fish there is that no one ever tries so i am going to try. I think i have seen 1 person fishing at the reservoir the four years i have lived here.

i walked down today to see if i could find a descent place to fish from shore and the best i found was the boat launch. I stood around for a little while and noticed that there are dozens of little 1 to 3 inch fish swimming around in there.
I do believe that the fish could survive a long time, and i do believe there are some big lunkers in there.
Either tonight or tomorrow i am going to give it a try for the first time

I'll await your reply. What type of fishing are you going to be doing?

That's the first fish I have heard that was caught out of Leduc in years. Good job. If fisher guy can wake them up with his spin cast, I'm going to try and get at them with my fly rod. Is that boat launch access towrds the end near the highway? I have a 9 foot pontoon boat and I would neet my vehicle near by where I launch off.

There is a great boat launch on the south west corner across from the golf course entrance. It is in the same parking lot as the playground. Good luck

I'm pretty sure it's the smaller pond just west of highway 2.

You can park on Alexander Drive and walk a tube or toon down to the water. I tried fishing there once and got skunked. Not even a hit...

I headed out there early this morning right before the sun was rising and fished for about 3 hours. I was at the boat launch by the golf course. I got one nibble and thats all.
I know there are fish in there. I think people should start fishing in there. If ultimate caught a 10 pounder in the res there has got to be more like it, maybe even bigger ones.
I am going to just keep trying.
I was using berkley gulp trout paste, berkley power bait, and earth worms on a pickerel rig.

I think anyone who is interested in fishing the leduc res should just start fishing it. It shouldn't take a lot to get the fish biting. People say it is dead but how do they know if no one ever is there fishing it.

While working the kinks out of our rescue boat one of our firefighters took his fish finder out on the reservoir, quite a few were found on the north side near the spillway, good luck! Hope you guys can make 'em bite!

Fished the Res today. No bites, and she's about 25% covered in green stuff. I brought the fishfinder and fish were showing up in the same spot as fireman's buddy. Hopefully the finder wasn't giving false readings.

I'm definately gonna head back to see if anything is in there.

I live in Leduc and today I talked to some of the folks in the City Dept's...they report that there are lots of VERY large trout in the Resv. and even though there are reports of stocking are in previous Govt. booklets ... no stocking occured in 2008 or 2009.... in the second week of August 2010 ... 800 small rainbow were stocked .. 6-8 incher's... they were dumped in by the boat launch... the reason none were put in 08 and 09 was due to the cormarants that were nesting at the resv...... there is no plans (or money) to remove or clear any of the cattails which surround the pond.

Yep, north end.

The green stuff is only in the bay with the boat launch.

Good luck.

I don't understand why they have aboard launch
Its not like I'll be bringing my 15' fiberglass
You would think every type of boat you would use on there you could just walk up on the grass or something
