Here's casting deck on my 14' Harbourcraft. It is simply marine ply, covering the front bench seat and extending right to the bow. There's a kayak hatch installed to access the 'bilge'. On a v-hull, a high casting deck can be wobbly for us seniors who are no longer too steady, but an H-bar or other device to lean against can solve that problem.
When there's two in the boat, a portable swivel chair is used by the passenger, and the casting deck is used for all of their junk!
