Default a few pics from wabamun

Went out to wabamun sunday for the day, launched around 7:30 am. Hit several of our producing spots with nothing!? Geezle made the suggestion to try a spot that was producing earlier in the year, so we headed on over and right out of the gate Jay landed a XXlb beast!! So needless to say we were fired up!! Caught about 10 under 4lbs then hoked into something BIG!! fought this one for a few minutes then into the net she went..... then out of the net she went, suddenly Alex yells from the front of the boat "you know the fish is unhooked!" Well I thought it was all over until Jay went shoulder deep and yanked out our biggest one of the day. He says it was worth the wet sleeve, and I agree. All in all we caught nearly 30 pike through out the day. I leave out the weights and let the experts decide.

A few pics from the day.

Nope there is a bait ban on cheeseburgers right now. Actually the three of us went through all the hooks in our tackle boxes and 98% of the fish we caught were on the old classic Len thompson spoons, red devil, five of diamonds, perch pattern etc. etc.

You would slay with a fly rod, these monsters were in very shallow and there would be no competition with other insects in this weather!!

Were you trolling by chance? Did you find the weeds were really bad? I must have hauled in 10 pounds of weeds.

Damn...I have to get some smaller hooks and get tying...this 10mm (1cm) hook size thing elimante anything I usally use and have in my fly boxes......the flys I tie for pike are usually 5-6 inches long and the hooks are 3/0......

Funny that rule the regs is too avoid snagging spawning white fish. Wonder how many a guy would snag on the surface with a fly? Obviously I encourage playing by the rules but seems silly especially if a guy is floating a fly?

Again though I wish I had a fly rod I'm certain one would would do well.

Well I literally have 4 of em (in pike weights) so if you want to give it a try let me know, I still meant to get Geezle chucking a fly this year BUT we all know he is a "hardware" guy
