I'm hoping about the same time as last year, mid-Nov when theres about 1-2 inches. Yes I did fall through last time but the fishing was still good and it was only in 3 feet of water

I wish I could get on the ice before surgery but I can't see us seeing ice down here before the end of October.

I am thinking mid to late December in the south and I can't see me getting out until mid to late January.

I have all my gear organized and ready to rock so as soon as there is a couple inches I will be punching holes if my back feels good enough.

8-15 inches.
at -40 the ice goes down about a inch a day more or less depending on the windchill.

id say it would take more them a week of -15c weather till u can walk on there saftly.

and i think he means the hardwater season is still awhile to come.

I agree, I've been stoked as hell for hardwater season. So many reasons.

i know for most people its 4" inches... But for me, since im a northern alberta ice fisher,
It not untill the ice is driveable (By Truck)
So Usually About After christmas..
But that dosent mean i wont jump on wab, with 4 inches of ice, if somone fices me a chance to come with, But that never happens...
it would be me, Except i dont own a vehicle...
BTW I Live in Sherwood Park!!! EH GEEZLE
im just kidding. Ths year im going for the wab trophy
But even im not that daft. ill be happy to get on wabs ice even 4 times this year,
But to be honest, My Life/Outdoorsmen Preferance, Is Fishing, But for some reason right now, My Only Thoughts are of
Probobly because this is the year of my first bull moose take...
But all hunting aside...
What i wouldnt mind happening this year
is having a trip out wiith Geezle

Correct on both counts...it's the one we went to for first ice last year, but when you came there was *slightly* more ice than my first sketchy ice trip!

According to the weather outlook I read, this fall and winter is supposed to get colder than average. As long as the ice insulating snow keeps off, I will probably be out there on the hard water by early December.
