Default Muskie bump board locally?

Hi all,

I’m looking for a Muskie bump board, ideally left handed. I’ve looked online and shipping makes it pretty costly even from the Canadian sites. US sites are worse with exchange and duties.

Does anyone know of a place locally that sells them and has stock?

Not locally but there is a fellow in MB that makes a 60" folding unit. I bought one from him last summer. I think I paid around $130 shipped to my door. If you're interested I'll get his contact info for you.

I'd love to get ahold of their 36" board myself, but like you, the shipping costs have held me back.

Thanks. I drove by Lloyd yesterday. If I had known I would have stopped in. I’ll call them tomorrow.

I've been meaning to pick one up and would be willing to split shipping with you if the other options don't pan out. They show free shipping in the US through the end of the month. I'm sure they could do something for us Canooks.

Sounds good. I’ll let you know if the others don’t pan out.

just a thought...head over to a local plastic manufacturer place and talk to them about custom making you one...we got a place here that can make just about anything...we used them to manufacturer a few items over the years.

I’ve thought about it, but my experience with that kind of thing is a “one off” always costs more than a mass produced version. The time to design and work out the kinks gets recouped over one item instead of multiples.

As an aside, a 48x48 inch piece of 3/4 inch HDPE is over $200. Priced it out as I thought about making my own.

but ya might be onto something too....business adventure...from your experience take all the good out of what you see eliminating the bad and come up with your design based off that...might catch a shark or two

Vouched. I bought two full 4X8 sheets of King Starboard a couple of years ago and had a plastics shop in the Lower Mainland (no one in Alberta would do it) cut and finish all my boat hatches and CNC Warrior's logo onto my side hatch doors to update my boat's interior to black from the original grey. I'm too embarrassed to say what that little venture cost me.

In stock....shipping looks to be about $25. Not sure you'll find anything cheaper anywhere else.
That said if someone wanted to organize a group buy of say 10 or so units direct from muskie bumpers they do give a break on price and shipping wouldn't be ridiculous. That's what we did a couple years ago.

I looked at them. Shipping to AB is $38 so the final cost is $172 CAD. Too rich for my blood. The shipping rate is per board as well, so even if I ordered two, the shipping doubles as well.

I mean order direct from muskie bumper in Indiana. I think we paid $75us / board (for the normal 60" not the fat). Shipping was reasonable maybe $40-50 to ship all 10 together usps.

Working on it as we speak, spoke with a few members and got some feedback. First one will be a tri-fold. 60" total. 20" folded down. Of course this will have both standard and metric. Will update when i have something together. I promise.... much cheaper then what you will buy, and i can custom print full color anything on them if you want.

I got a prototype all done!! Just waiting to post pictures..... soon.

I've gotten lots of feedback, Thank you. I'm going to do a more typical one for us Albertans. 48" total. 1 fold @ 24".

I'll have a dual fold 60" version too, but really 48" should do for most of us weekend warriors.

I'll have some pictures up this evening.

Was able to whip this up quickly. Still some things to fine-tune. But have a few great fellow forum members that are willing to do some R & D. Again i think im going focus more on a two piece 48" one. Its much more efficient with the equipment im using. Thinking of doing some full color ones, and maybe a few color coded markings on areas like 63cm & 75cm for alberta common regs such as pike. Any ideas at all by all means.

Looking great!

Things I'd love to see in the final product:
- Left-handed setup
- Grab handle
- Metric and Imperial markings

If there's a 2-piece, 48" model that makes the final production line, then count me in.

I thought this was the left handed set up? But I really have no clue on how one really classifies that for such an item?

Grab handle will be going in for sure, easy.

Currently it has both standard and metric measurements.

I'm working on a velcro strap to keep it closed, should be easy.

I should have a working prototype of the 48" version by weeks end!!

This is classified as a left handed setup as the fishes head is on your left side when you measure it. Usually that means you were holding the head with your left hand.

Nice work Moosenuckle how much are they going for?

Also would you be set to be able to cut lure lips out of 1/8th lexan by chance?

Sorry. I should clarify. I see that this one pictured is a left handed configuration with both metric and imperial markings.

I was just stating the things I would love in the final product. I’m sure we’re all aware how products can change from prototype to the product that’s for sale.
