Sad news.

He gave his 'whole' for those teams.

Joey got to ride the express escalator to the Pearly Gates. Broke the barrier for many who follow. Hero in his own way.

I will always remember him singing the national anthems on the bench.

Rest well Joey and then go on to your next adventure.

^^Very well said!^^

A very sad day for the Oilers/Eskimos Organizations and Edmontonians, he was one of a kind and lead by example.

As a Non Oiler lover, I must say I did have a smile when they showed him on the broadcast, singing away at the national anthem, or giving player knuckles on the bench. Defiantly see how he would be a big presence in the organization. Sorry to hear this, but glad he had a great ride. RIP my man.

Sad day for the Oilers and Eskimos, as well as all Edmontonians.

Joey was an inspiration for many, and his presence will be missed.

Condolences to Joey's family.

R.I.P. Joey and thank you for everything you have done.

I think you're right!

From an oilers forum:

May the purest soul in Oilers history be blessed eternally.
