Judos work best imo, cheap and they are easier to find because they snag up and don't go under the leaves as easily.

Judos are the way to go. You may have trouble finding them at this time of year as they are quite popular. I would paper shoot them first though as I have found they will fly a little different then your regular field tips.

Default grouse tips

ive shot many grouse with different types of tips, feild tips, old broadheads, blunts, the judo tips seem to work the best, and u dont have to worry about those breasts getting shot through, yum yum!

another good way is to find a washer that fits your feild point. Screw it on and away you go.
works like a charm!

I think judo tips are junk when it comes to grouse. Most of the time they blow right thru the grouse & make a mess, unless you hit them in the head. I like the snare-o-tip/cloverleaf style the best, as it will stun or kill the grouse with minimal damage, and you will rarely ever lose an arrow. The next best IMO are the plastic blunts, but I've had them blow right thru also, and arrow loss definitely comes into play.

Grouse are really fragile...........about as fragile as you can get. Just like the guys are saying, judos blow right through them and they still fly/run away. They make a huge jagged hole and drag feathers into the breast. Just about anything you put on the end of your arrow is going to blast right through them. I've got a snaro that I've never used cause' it's not convenient to carry......it doesn't fit into any quiver. A two blade broadhead (magnus two blade) for example) does the least damage to the breast.....it makes a nice clean cut......no bruising. Flinging arows at grouse can be an expensive proposition. Yes BBJ.........Slingshot is the way to go!

In my mind the best bow/arrow combo for grouse would be a recurve/longbow and arrows fletched with flu-flu feathers.

I wasn't too impressed with what I did to a grouse with my judo tip this year. I have always used the wire loop style but mine got destroyed a few years ago. I bought a new Bowtech Topgun bow this year and could not find the wireloops that I wanted so I could use it for birds. The guy at Wholesale said that judo's worked well. I hit a grouse with a judo with a fluflu and I have never done so much damage to a bird. The bird was unsalvagable. I didn't bother using my bow for birds for the rest of the season. Anyone else have this problem?

Default grouse

I use a dedicated boradhead and only pull my bow back about 8 inches. It still goes through them but doens't shred them that badly.

On the ground , Zwickey with standard fletching.
in the trees - flu flu with a Zwickey.
I use stickbows BTW, I think those big magnum compunds are at a disadvantage in this respect ( small game).
