Default Ever wonder how leeches get into

isolated bodies of water. I was just wondering because i cant wait to go fishing in swan lake alberta and a very popular bait are leeches or wooly bugger flies. I just realized that this lake has no rivers so how did the leeches enter this lake or any other bodies of isolated lakes. Also has anyone actually caught any other fish than rainbow in that lake. A tourism guide says that it is stocked with brown trout as well but i have yet to see one dead or alive.

Leeches get into isolated bodies of water by hitchin a ride on any type of bird they can latch onto. Mostly ducks and geese but sometimes a heron or sandhill crane. Yes there are Browns in the lake there is an old spawning ladder on I think the east end of the lake for them. Thereare also lakers in there but very hard to catch along with the browns. Try fishing the creek for the browns just be very stealthy.
