Default Schnable Fore End

Nothing to do with strength or receiver design as far as I have been taught. Look at the fore stock. See how it tapers towards the front and then has that little lip. That is a Schnable fore stock.

I believe it is a European thing....nothing other than cosmetic....nicest American one is on the Win Featherwights-'80's & '90's models. I like schanble forends

I agree with you ARCHDLX. I have a cpl of win Featherweights with aschnabel fore-ends. They are one of, if not the nicest . I also have a cple of custom rifles with fore ends that I basically copied from the win f/w forend.

As for O/U's .... dunno, I have a 687 Silver Pigeon and it has a schnabel, which I like the looks of. It appears that a lot of "Sporting Clay" guns have a schnabel. Whether it serves a particular funtion on a S/C gun or not, can't say, but sure do look nice.

I've got a CZ .22 mag LUX model with that forend. Very classy looking. Looks almost too ornate for an everyday hunting rig though. My .270 is utilitarian composite LOL
